Art is a form of expression. Its message may be symbolic or religious, historical or political. Art is there to elicit an emotional response, and to ‘move’ us.

Artificial Intelligence, or AI for short, is the simulation of human intelligence processed by machines. Its original purpose is there to replace routine jobs and repetitive tasks like separation and segregation of materials. AI is there to help humans with mundane tasks, thus allowing us to bloom our creative talents in full colours.

DALL·E 2, an AI system that creates art in many different forms, completely shattered the barrier that safeguarded how the world perceived arts, and that the creation of arts is no longer exclusive to humans only.

Please see the images below:

First image is the natural language texts,

and what DALL·E 2 transformed the text into.

Simply astounding.

In this blog we dive deeper into what DALL·E 2 is, how does it exactly work, and what impact it has to our future and the future of machine learning.

DALL · E 2 is a new AI system created by OpenAI, that can create realistic images and art from a description in natural language. In short, the most powerful image creation & edit bot in the world.

As mentioned earlier, DALL·E 2 takes natural language texts and turn them into realistic pictures. It can also edit photos that blends in perfectly with the original base on text descriptions, also known as in-painting. On top of that, DALL·E 2 can create pictures in different styles!

DALL·E 2, is created by training on neural networks on images and their descriptions. Through deep learning, it not only understand individual objects, but learns relationships between objects as well. This means images can be expressed in ways beyond our wildest imagination. Can you picture Mona Lisa with a mohawk? Or a koala bear writing a motorcycle? Your imagination is the only limitation.

That being said, DALL·E 2 does have its limitations. It cannot create images that it has not been trained on. For example, if DALL·E 2 were not trained on what a sword fish is, it would simply create an image of a fish with a sword. DALL·E 2 may also create the wrong image if it were trained on the wrong data.

DALL·E 2 will drive human imagination to a new height. DALL·E 2 not only opened the door for humans to reach a new height in the realm of art, but also re-affirmed the endless possibilities of AI. As more AI models can recognize and associate through natural language texts in other industries, one can only look forward on how the world will play out.
